IEEE Transactions on Reliability: Special Issue on Prognostics and Health Management (PHM) Following the success of the IEEE PHM-2008 Conference in Denver and the IEEE PHM-2010 Conference in Macau, over 350 papers on PHM technologies, methods, and applications are available in the IEEE Xplore (http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/Xplore/guesthome.jsp). Furthermore, the selected best papers from these conferences were expanded and enhanced for special issues in the IEEE Transactions on Reliability. Great thanks goes to Professor Michael Pecht and his associates, Dr. Ile Dolev and Dr. Wenbin Wang, for their efforts in putting these special sections together. The June 2009 and March 2011 issues of the IEEE Transactions on Reliability contain the PHM special sections. Note: In addition, there is a planned PHM article section to be added within the Reliability Society Newsletter. With the PHM-2011 Conference in Shenzhen, China (May 24-25, 2011, http://www.cityu.edu.hk/phmc/PHM2011.htm) and the PHM-2011 Conference in Denver (June 20-23, 2011, http://www.phmconf.org/), we will be publishing our annual special section on PHM in the IEEE Transaction on Reliability. We again expect over 350 papers for the IEEE PHM-2011 Conferences with the very best being selected to be expanded and enhanced for the special PHM section in a 2012 IEEE Transaction on Reliability.
PHM Publication Call For Papers and Planned Approach The Reliability Society's system Prognostics and Health Management (PHM) Team's intent is to use a PHM section of the RS Newsletter for gaining visibility for the PHM focus of the IEEE Reliability Society. The RS PHM Team's request is to solicit articles for the PHM section. The articles will be refereed to ensure quality of the paper submissions. The RS PHM Team is exploring mechanisms for hosting the papers online using a model similar to an existing IEEE web-based Transaction publication. The intent is to initiate planning for an IEEE Reliability Society Transactions on PHM. The RS PHM Team is evaluating the approach / process for attaining that goal. One option could be to take the papers collected over the course of the IEEE Publication Committee review / approval process and siphon them into the first few issues of the Transactions after IEEE Publication approval. The obvious challenge is how to motivate authors to submit quality PHM papers without the Transactions in place. Alternatively, the future PHM Transactions can reside as a special section in the current IEEE Transactions on Reliability and then spin-off into a separate new Transactions publication. Authors, please consider sending your PHM oriented papers to the RS PHM Team to help establish our IEEE PHM Transactions for Xplore visibility. Send your papers to : E-mail
