Transactions on Reliability's Recent Accomplishments

Update

I was delighted to inform the nine associate editors attending the recent board meeting in Beijing that IEEE had selected IEEE Transactions on Reliability for Best Practice in the publication area this year. All of the team deserves credit for this wonderful achievement.

The editorial meeting, which was sponsored by City University of Hong Kong, was extremely productive. We concluded by inviting Professor Haijun Li of Washington State University to set out a strategy to promote reliability in general and Transactions in particular. Ideas under consideration included organising a special session/issue and a workshop to which we can invite the associate editors and other experts in the general area of reliability.

The report on the content of the journal posted to IEEE Xplore in Q1 2011 was sent to the associate editors for their information. The report details all the articles posted in that quarter for each volume.

We also acknowledge that it is important to make editorial decisions quickly even if we have to sacrifice some potentially good papers. We will continue to work on reducing the turnaround time.

Our associate editors enjoy outstanding reputations in different areas of expertise all over the world. We plan to have a workshop in Hong Kong in 2012 where we will brainstorm current topics and direct the future strategies of the journal.
