IEEE Reliability-Italy Chapter: Outreach Seminar & Workshop Slated for 28th November 2014, Milano, Italy

A Reliability Outreach Seminar &Workshop will take place on November 28th, 2014, at Politecnico di Milano, Milan (Italy). The event is promoted by IEEE Reliablity Society, IEEE Italy Reliability Chapter, Politecnico di Milano and Aramis Srl.

The event covers Prognostics and Health Management (PHM) implementation, Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Monte Carlo (MC) simulation for the reliability and availability analysis of complex systems. PHM offers the possibility to shift to condition-based and predictive maintenance policies; RCM provides the basis for maintenance strategies solidly founded on the deep comprehension of the link between scheduled maintenance and the reliability properties of the components; MC simulation is described as a powerful tool for the reliability and availability analysis of complex systems, due to its inherent capability of achieving a closer adherence to reality in the representation of the system stochastic behavior.

The seminar and workshop is intended for researchers and professionals with an interest in Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM) in various applications (e.g., transportation by air, land and sea, manufacturing, and power production. Engineers, maintenance professionals, and plant/facility managers and operators will benefit from it by using the competence gained for achieving performance improvements through better RAM analysis and maintenance practice.

In the morning, a seminar session is organized devoted to the illustration of PHM approaches for on-condition and predictive maintenance, RCM framework for understanding the relationship between scheduled maintenance and reliability for improved system performance and MC simulation for system reliability and availability analysis. The programme is enriched by talks given by Prof. Michael Pecht, University of Maryland (USA), Dr. Pierre Dersin, Alstom (France), and Prof. Enrico Zio, Politecnico di Milano (Italy), Aramis Srl (Italy), ECP&Supelec (France).

In the afternoon, specific topics selected from Seminars will be discussed and debated. Moreover, Practical sessions will be held on specific topics such as Maintenance practice, Monitoring the conditions of industrial equipments in practice, Monte Carlo applications to reliability and availability, Model-based and data-driven techniques for PHM.
