Call for Applications: Editor-in-Chief IEEE Transactions on Reliability


The IEEE Reliability Society is seeking an Editor-in-Chief (EIC) for its flagship scholarly publication, Transactions on Reliability (T-Rel).

Requirements
The new EIC must be a highly accomplished scholar with a research specialty within the scope of the Reliability Society and possess strong leadership skills. He/She must also be a member in good standing of the Reliability Society for at least 3 years.

Responsibilities of EIC
Reporting to the Vice President for Publications, the duties of the EIC include

  • Recruiting, mentoring and managing the board of associate editors and guest editors
  • Setting the editorial direction for the periodical
  • Planning and finalizing each issue of the periodical for production
  • Making final publication decisions for manuscripts
  • Communicating with authors and answering journal-related questions
  • Working with IEEE production staff
  • Representing the publication to the Reliability Society at appropriate events

Duration of Commitment
As per the Reliability Society policy, the new EIC will be appointed to an initial 3-year term with the possibility of being appointed to serve a second (final) 3-year term.

Process for Applying
Interested candidates should submit an application packet consisting of the following materials:

  • A current CV or résumé which should include past editorial experiences and service activities to the IEEE, the Reliability Society, and related or similar organizations
  • A 250-350 word statement of the applicant’s vision for T-Rel
  • Names of 3 references (one of which should note the individual’s abilities to serve as an editor)
  • A letter of support from the individual’s supervisor (if applicable)
  • Application packets should be sent to Dr. Phil Laplante, Chair of the T-Rel Editorial Search Committee

Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
