IEEE Reliability Society Newsletter     Vol. 61, No. 4, November 2015

As part of the tutorial certificate program funded by the IEEE Future Direction Committee and administered by the IEEE Reliability Society, a one-day tutorial on System and Software Reliability was held on October 21 in Beijing, China at ICRSE & PHM 2015 − the First International Conference on Reliability Systems Engineering & 2015 Prognostics and System Health Management Conference (http://www.icrse.cn). This is also part of the society’s outreach event in collaboration with the School of Reliability and Systems Engineering at Beihang University and the Reliability Society Beijing Chapter.

The tutorial, with three distinguished speakers on the following subjects, attracted more than 150 attendees from academia and industry:

• Software Reliability – A Systems Engineering Tutorial (4 hours)
  Russell Morris, Boeing Company, USA

• Overview of Network Reliability and its Evaluation Tech (2 hours)
  Ning Huang, School of Reliability and Systems Engineering, Beihang University, China

• Safety Cases: concepts, experience and prospects (2 hours)
  John McDermid,University of York, UK

Every attendee received a certificate from the IEEE Reliability to certify their successful completion of this tutorial.
