by Securing Data Directly

Abstract:

In this talk, Prof. Lixia Zhang presented the concept of next generation Internet. The current Internet is a host-to-host model which may not be suitable for the future where data is the center of network communication. Therefore, the idea of Name Data Networking (NDN) is proposed. In NDN, every data is signed before passing it on to the Internet. In this matter, the offered protection is based on the data itself instead of communication channel protection offered by the current Internet. Therefore, the data is secured with integrity protection even after the communication. Other than the security feature offered by NDN, Prof. Lixia Zhang also present the architecture, the key components, and the advantages of NDN. Overall, it renovates the knowledge base in network communication domain.
