Denver/Pikes Peak Chapter Report

Jason Rupe, Treasurer

The Denver Chapter of the Reliability Society is in dire need of member participation. While we have been able to present a few technical meetings each year for the past few years, continued operation is in jeopardy due to a perfect storm of changes. Now is a good time for those in the area to step up and help strengthen the community with new ideas and energy.

Our small staff of officers has been impacted by unrelated events. While a couple officers have retired from professional work recently, our current President is moving to another state at the end of the summer, leaving only the Treasurer position staffed.

While we had big plans, and have been actively seeking input from members about what support they would like to receive from the local chapter, we now need help to stay viable. In the past couple years, our meetings have concentrated on engaging students in reliability by holding technical meetings at CU-Denver. We intended to expand these meetings to CU-Boulder, and School of Mines. We also have been trying to hold meetings at businesses looking to fill a reliability or quality related position, providing the business an opportunity to attract the reliability talent in the area, and present their engineering challenges in the best light. But to make any of these events happen, or to provide any more value to the local community, we need your help as reliability society members in the Denver & Pikes Peak areas.

If you have any ideas or can help to keep this local chapter active, please contact me at jrupe@ieee.org. I would like to get as many interested members and non-members together around the same time as our AdCom meets in Golden, CO, which is September 17th, to discuss how to refresh and sustain the local chapter of the reliability society in the Denver & Pikes Peak areas. Please contact me with your thoughts even if you can't meet with us in September. The local chapter is here to help your career, so please remember to take full advantage of what it can offer.
