The Reliability Society held its annual banquet on Jan 27, 2017 at the Rosen Plaza hotel in Orlando Florida. Traditionally, the banquet is held
in January in conjunction with the RAMS Conference. The banquet included a reception, welcome by Jeff Voas (Society President), introduction of the
new AdCom class and 2017 society officers. The banquet was highlighted by awards for the society’s 2016 Engineer of the Year (Shiuhpyng Shieh) and a Lifetime Achievement
award (Ann Marie Neufelder).
Jeff Voas, society president, welcomed the society officers, committee members, and guests to the banquet.
Society awards were presented by Jeff Voas, Christian Hansen (Junior Past President), and Dennis Hoffman (Senior Past President).
Engineer of the Year Award was presented to Shiuhpyng Shieh for innovation and technical contributions to the design of
intrusion detection approaches, and reliability and security hybrid mechanisms.
Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Ann Marie Neufelder for a diverse career in pioneering software reliability processes
and tools innovations, for delivering innovative software solutions and analysis methods used in space, military defense, aerospace,
semiconductor, and medical devices; and for leadership and advances of software reliability in IEEE Standards; and for entrepreneurship.
