Vice Chair, Dallas Chapter

The Dallas Chapter, in conjunction with the Department of Computer Science at the University of Texas at Dallas, organized a technical seminar by Dr. Dennis Frailey on November 18, 2017.

The title of the talk was “Measuring Software Complexity and How it Relates to Testing?” The focus was on how to use various metrics to measure the complexity of software modules and how the results can be used to predict the fault proneness of these modules. Such studies can help engineers determine how to allocate their testing resources and achieve better software quality in a cost-effective way.

Dr. Frailey was the Principal Fellow at Raytheon from 2001 to 2010. This is the most senior technical position in software engineering at Raytheon with various responsibilities such as in support of proposals, customer liaison, supplier liaison, internal training for project and program managers, and providing senior level expertise in all aspects of the business

Since the 1970’s, he has taught various software engineering and computer science courses on a part time basis, typically one course per semester. In particular, he emphasizes the topics he has mastered in the industry, such as cycle time reduction, software quality engineering, and engineering management. Dr. Frailey is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Texas at Arlington and Southern Methodist University.
