Yixiang Chen
East China Normal University
VP for Publications
Shanghai, China

W. Eric Wong
Vice President for Publications
Dallas, TX, USA

During the fourth quarter of 2015, the Reliability Society organized two tutorials on System and Software Reliability: one in Shanghai, China on December 11 and 12, and one in Dallas, Texas, USA. on November 20. Both events were part of the tutorial certificate program funded by the IEEE Future Direction Committee and administered by the IEEE Reliability Society.

The one in Shanghai was co-sponsored by East China University and the IEEE Reliability Society. It was in conjunction with the International Symposium on System and Software Reliability (IS3R). The tutorial was a two-day event with more than 80 attendees. It featured four speakers Mr. Russell Morris (Technical Fellow from Boeing), Mr. Peter Rotella (Senior Technical Leader from Cisco), Professor Christian Hansen (President of RS), and Professor Eric Wong (Vice President for Publications of RS). The following photographs were taken during the tutorial.

The Reliability Society would like to give special thanks to East China University, in particular Professor Jifeng He (Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Dean of the Software Engineering Institute) and Professor Yixiang Chen (Director of the MoE Engineering Center for Software/Hardware Co-Design Technology and Application), for its support and hospitality which made the RS tutorial a great success.

The tutorial on November 20 was sponsored by the IEEE RS Dallas Chapter and the Computer Science Department at the University of Texas at Dallas. The speaker was Mr. Russell Morris, a Technical Fellow from the Boeing Company. In addition to a four-hour tutorial on Software Reliability, Mr. Morris gave a technical seminar on Unmanned Aircraft System Reliability. There were more than 65 attendees, including faculty and students from UTD, engineers from local companies, Dr. Dennis Hoffman (past President of RS) who gave opening remarks to explain the benefit of being an RS member, Dr. Mike Siok from Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company (Chair of the IEEE Fort Worth Section), Dr. Ron Knerr from Texas Instruments (Membership Chair of the RS Dallas Chapter), and Professor Mark Paulk from UTD (Vice President for Standards, IEEE Computer Society).
