RS Outreach at ICRMS 2018

The 12th International Conference on Reliability Maintainability, and Safety (ICRMS’2018), one of the largest conferences on these topics, was held in Shanghai, China from October 17-19, 2018. It was technically sponsored by IEEE Reliability Society in conjunction with seven other societies:
- China Instrument and Control Society
- China Ordnance Society
- Chinese Society of Astronautics
- Chinese Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics
- Chinese Association for Applied Statistics
- Chinese Institute of Electronics
- Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society
The organizers were Shanghai Institute of Process Automation and Instrumentation CO., LTD and Reliability Engineering Division of China Instrument and Control Society, with three additional co-organizers: Shanghai Nuclear Power Office, City University of Hong Kong, and Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China Ltd.
The conference was a great success with about 500 attendees. Dr. Jeff Voas (President of RS) together with Professor Way Kuo (City University of Hong Kong) and Dr. Enrico Zio (European Safety and Reliability Association) were the conference chairs. Dr. Voas also gave a keynote address on “Considerations for Internet of Things and Trust”. Professor W. Eric Wong and Professor Min Xie served as Program Chairs. In addition, several organizing and program committees are RS members.

Dr. Voas and Professor Wong also had discussions with local RS to explain the benefits of joining the society and the establishment of an RS Chapter in Shanghai.
