The 2018 Chinese National Student Contest on Software Testing was held on November 17 and 18 at the Gulou Campus of Nanjing University. This contest was technically sponsored by the IEEE Reliability Society and its Nanjing Chapter, among other organizations. The main objective is to establish a close connection between the software industry and higher education, in particular how software systems can be tested more efficiently and effectively.

Award Ceremony on November 18, 2018

The first contest in China was in 2016 with 3,096 students from more than 300 universities. Since then, the number has continued to grow. In 2018, before the final contest at the national level, there were 15 provincial finals. Together, we had 9,436 contestants. Among them, 1,158 advanced to the provincial finals and 365 were selected to participate in the final.

In addition to the contests in China at the regional, provincial, and national levels [1], the organizing committee has also worked closely with IEEE Reliability Society to host similar contests in Europe (e.g., at QRS 2017 in Prague, Czech Republic [2] and QRS 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal [3]), in the US (e.g., at the University of Texas at Dallas in January 2018 [4][5] and again in this upcoming February 2019), and in South America, such as the 2018 Brazilian Conference on Software: Theory and Practice (CBSOFT) in September. All these contents will be under a comprehensive umbrella — IEEE International Contest on Software Testing.
